In order for your resume to enter the database appropriately, it must be formatted in "plain text" or American Standard Code for Information Interchange (ASCII).

This can be done in most word processing software (Microsoft Word, WordPerfect, Ami Pro, Notepad, etc.)

  1. Select/highlight all text (use the mouse to click and drag or use "edit ; select all"
  2. Choose "save as type" : "Text Only" and click "save" commands)
  3. Review an align all text

PERSONAL CONTACT INFORMATION

  • Name, Address, Telephone/Cell Number, Pager, e-mail Address, Web Page URL

OBJECTIVE / PROFILE

  • Position title, and brief description of knowledge and skills.

KEY WORD SUMMARY

  • Consists of nouns and adjectives. Key words include job titles, job-related tasks performed, industry specific terms, skills and knowledge, interpersonal (soft) skills, Optional : degrees, diplomas, and certificates.

QUALIFICATIONS

  • Four or five brief lines describing key assets and abilities. Can also refer to this section as "Highlights".

EMPLOYMENT HISTORY

  • Begin with most recent employer. List job title, company name, and dates.

EDUCATION

  • Start with the most recent formal education completed, the educational institution, degree or grade obtained, calendar years of study or year of graduation.

Professional Development

  • List courses in progress that advance or widen professional development. Include evening, business and extension courses taken, the institution, course name, and year.

ASSOCIATIONS

  • Membership in relevant associations
